Help Us Beat A New Illness!
Stand Against MIS-C
Stand Against MIS-C
You may have never heard of MIS-C before.
It's a recently discovered, severe condition that is affecting thousands of children today.
Hello, my name is Derek Kim and I am a sophomore at JSerra Catholic High School.
I had also never heard of it.
But in February, an ER doctor told me I had MIS-C.

Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children can happen after a COVID infection. We don't know why it happens, but we know that it can happen to anyone under 21.
It affects us by inflaming our hearts, kidneys blood vessels, and other vital organs.
Children with MIS-C are usually put into urgent care.
We are given blood thinner shots every 4 hours.
We are hooked onto IVs and steroids.
Our blood is frequently drawn for tests.
Our diet is limited.
This causes nausea, trouble breathing, and makes it hard to even move.
If we get lucky, we are discharged.
But our hearts are still in poor condition.
So we have to constantly take medicine and have check ups.

Today, over 5,217 children have had MIS-C since its discovery last year.
Over 46 children have already passed away as a result.
We know anything can be overcome together!
But we need to be quick!

So, we're asking that you join our team!
My sister Kayla and I have teamed up with Dr. Elizabeth Cho and research advisor Chulie Ulloa to help beat MIS-C.
Your support goes directly to:
- Making sure that children who get MIS-C receive necessary hospital supplies,
- Spreading awareness of MIS-C and advocating vaccinations for children,
- Funding research to beat MIS-C.
