Josiah Strong - "Through him everything is possible"
Thank you for visiting our donation page. What began last summer with a small event- Home Run for Hope- has grown into a heartfelt mission to bring awareness to childhood cancer and to support the brave children who are fighting this terrible disease.
With your generosity, we can continue to spread joy, hope, and encouragement to these young warriors and their families. every contribution helps us provide comfort, smiles and special moments during their journey.
One part of Josiah's treatment was to receive two injections into his thighs three times a week. This lasted for a few months. Needless to say, Josiah was not a fan of this treatment. It would cause him to not feel well. It would cause nausea, and vomiting. To help Josiah not to become sore from the injections, he had to walk around for the clinic for fifteen minutes following the injections. He was not happy about that; he would say to the child life nurse "this is boring". Then one day Josiah said you should have a scavenger hunt. Megan from child life agreed. The next time Josiah had to receive his injections, he was surprised that they had created a scavenger hunt for him.
He was excited to walk around and find the objects that were hidden through-out the clinic. Once he located all the items, he received a small toy. He was so excited. It made him forget the reason for walking around by having fun experiencing a scavenger hunt.
Josiah's mission is to bring awareness to childhood cancer and to make sure child life has enough toys throughout the year for the brave warriors experiencing these hard moments.
