Julian's LEGO Corner
Julian's LEGO Corner
When our son, Julian, was a patient at CHOC, he spent many hours and days over his 5-year journey undergoing treatment for cancer. Fortunately, he discovered that he loved building Legos. Building Legos helped pass the time. It also was good for his mind and the recovery of fine motor skills which were damaged by brain surgery. Creating things out of Lego bricks gave us something interesting and challenging that we could do together and that his weakened body could handle. He simply couldn’t get enough of Legos and built many sets that he was so proud of and enjoyed so much. In Julian's memory, my husband and I established Julian’s Lego Corner, a fund of the CHOC Foundation. We know there are many other kids going through treatment who love Legos, too. Julian's Lego Corner raises funds so that the Child Life Dept staff can provide new Lego sets to patients at CHOC Hospital and CHOC at Mission, especially those who are going through serious and lengthy medical journeys. A special THANK YOU to everyone who has donated over the years, including our wonderful friends at Sgt. Pepperoni Pizza Stores, as well as to our more recent donors! With love, Andrea, Rich and Nolan Dunn
