In 2019, our CHOC Hematology/Oncology nurses came together to transform our unit’s peer engagement. We wanted 5 South to become a safe haven for not only patients and families, but for staff as well. We plan events, celebrate holidays, create a community, and ultimately spread happiness and hope to all those who set foot on our unit. Together, we built Hematology Oncology Peer Engagement (HOPE).

Being a pediatric Hematology/Oncology nurse is a whole lot more than administrating medications. It’s about instilling something far greater, and that is HOPE.

With hope there is light.
With hope there is possibility.
With hope there is happiness.
With hope there is rest.
With hope there is healing.
